We are actively looking for a highly detail-oriented individual with a strong background in medicinal chemistry to join our Business Development team based out of the award-winning Mill SciTech Park, Cambridge, UK.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicinal chemistry, with a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication skills, and the creativity to identify new customers and growth opportunities. The position shall require regular travel across Europe, building relationships, writing proposals, acting as a scientific liaison, and managing projects post-contract.

Job description:
Winning new business
Developing a deep understanding of the ongoing business and collaborators in the biotech clusters of Europe
Establishing and executing business development initiatives that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy
Engaging with the ongoing collaborators to identify new business opportunities
Identifying new business opportunities and expanding the business pipeline – this will include a detailed survey of new markets (local/domestic), growth areas, current trends, business forecast, competition to develop the o2h Ecosystem in wider European regions
Pursuing business leads to converting them to sales, negotiating contracts and agreements etc.
Updating business development databases to include opportunities, proposals issued, approved projects, and BD activities and other tracking indices
Serve as a primary point of contact for scientific inquiries and collaborations post-contract closure
Communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including research scientists and non-scientists
Provide scientific support to business development and marketing teams
Monitor and report on the latest scientific advancements relevant to the company’s research areas
Support the draft and edit of proposals for new projects
Handling customer complaints and ensuring quick corrective actions
Help managing and overseeing drug discovery projects, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction
Coordinate and participate in scientific meetings, conferences, and presentations
Travelling to Europe once every two weeks and representing o2h to attract new customers (in case you are based at UK)
Supporting in MIS and board representation of BD and business performance and future plans
Job requirements:
3-6 years of experience as a medicinal chemist in industry would be an advantage
An advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in a scientific discipline such as chemistry/biochemistry
Basic understanding of BD and project management principles, strategy, and design
Commercial awareness and understanding of market dynamics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Outstanding business writing and proofing skills
Have a passion for science and marketing as well as being open to continuous learning and education
Creative thinking to spot new customers and growth opportunities
Ability to troubleshoot project problems and keep commitments/timelines
Be highly organised with the ability to work independently in a fast paced team environment
Ability to work in a team in a transparent and entrepreneurial culture
Self-motivated with initiative to reach challenging targets
Outstanding business writing and proofing skills
Exceptional attention to detail

PS:
The position is a full-time role and shall require regular travel to Europe once every 2 weeks including building an active presence in countries such as Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland.
